Sterile Processing Technician
About the Role
The SPD is responsible for assisting with direct patient care activities in the Operating Room. Prepares and stocks the Operating Room before and after surgery, gathers clean and sterile supplies, sets sterile instrument fields, maintains and monitors aseptic techniques. Assists with proper positioning of patient while maintaining the privacy and dignity of the patient.

- Maintains patient safety by creating and preserving a sterile field, assisting with positioning, ensuring OR safety, performing time‑outs and counts, and responding to patient condition changes.
- Supports clinical practice by preparing surgical trays and instruments, utilizing preference cards, anticipating supply needs, handling specimens correctly, and assisting with irrigation solutions under supervision.
- Manages equipment by ensuring proper function, performing quality checks, troubleshooting, supporting sterilization processes, and training others on equipment use.
- Maintains a safe environment of care by properly disposing of waste, sharps, and specimens, and demonstrating knowledge of OR safety and emergency procedures.
- Demonstrates professional communication and customer service by exercising sound judgment, maintaining patient privacy and dignity, and engaging in proactive, thoughtful caregiving behaviors.
- At least 6 months Sterile processing knowledge and experience.
- Coursework/Training High-Level Disinfection: Training in decontamination, processing, sterilization, quality control Flexible scope reprocessing.
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- AHA Basic Life Support
- Understanding of basic medical terminology
- Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- Computer literacy and proficiency.
- Our organization follows an in person work structure where the expectation is to work onsite on a weekly basis. The hospital is located at 14662 Newport Ave, Tustin, CA 92780.
- The total compensation target pay range for this role is $22.00 - $32.00 per hour. The salary range represents our national target range for this role.
