Stores Manager

About the Role

LS Professional Placements is recruiting an experienced Senior Stores Manager on behalf of a well-established commercial vehicle dealership and aftersales operation in Limerick.

This is a senior position responsible for the efficient day-to-day management of a busy parts and stores department, supporting workshop operations, vehicle servicing, repairs and external parts customers.

The successful candidate will take ownership of stock control, parts availability, purchasing, team management and supplier relationships, ensuring technicians have the correct parts available while maintaining appropriate stock levels and controlling costs.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation of the parts and stores department.
• Lead, organise and support stores and parts personnel.
• Maintain accurate stock levels across commercial vehicle parts, consumables and workshop supplies.
• Manage purchasing, replenishment and parts ordering based on workshop and customer demand.
• Ensure technicians receive the correct parts efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime.
• Monitor stock levels, stock value, slow-moving inventory and obsolete stock.
• Carry out and oversee regular stock checks and annual stocktakes.
• Maintain accurate inventory and parts records on relevant systems.
• Manage relationships with manufacturers, suppliers and parts distributors.
• Negotiate with suppliers where appropriate and monitor purchasing costs.
• Coordinate closely with Workshop, Service and Aftersales teams.
• Manage parts returns, warranty parts and supplier credits.
• Ensure parts are correctly received, checked, stored and issued.
• Maintain an organised, safe and efficient stores environment.
• Monitor departmental performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and stock availability.
• Support internal workshop requirements while maintaining strong service levels for external customers.

Requirements

Essential

• Previous experience in a Stores Manager, Parts Manager, Parts Supervisor or senior stores position.
• Strong experience within the automotive, HGV, commercial vehicle, agricultural machinery, plant or heavy equipment sector.
• Excellent knowledge of parts identification, stock control and inventory management.
• Experience managing purchasing and supplier relationships.
• Strong understanding of stock replenishment, stock rotation and obsolete inventory management.
• Previous experience supervising or managing a stores/parts team.
• Good IT skills and experience using stock, inventory or dealer management systems.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Commercially aware with a good understanding of stock costs and margins.
• Excellent communication and customer-service skills.

Desirable

• Previous experience within a commercial vehicle dealership.
• Knowledge of European HGV and commercial vehicle parts.
• Experience supporting a busy HGV workshop or fleet maintenance operation.
• Experience with manufacturer parts catalogues and electronic parts systems.
• Experience managing departmental KPIs, stock accuracy and inventory value.
