Strategic Account Manager
Overview: The Strategic Account Manager serves as the primary relationship steward for key enterprise clients, responsible for protecting revenue through retention, satisfaction, and engagement. The SAM ensures NSD remains embedded as a trusted partner by monitoring account health, driving renewal readiness, and coordinating with Sales Executives when growth opportunities arise. This role is consultative, data-driven, and strategically aligned to long-term client value rather than transactional selling.
Key Responsibilities:
Relationship Development & Value Reinforcement
- Serve as the senior point of contact for client leadership, ensuring alignment between NSD solutions and the client’s evolving business priorities.
- Conduct Quarterly or Semi-Annual Business Reviews (QBRs/SBRs) to reinforce value, ROI, and outcomes achieved.
- Translate client feedback into actionable insights for Sales, Product, Operations, and Underwriting teams to enhance satisfaction and retention. Client Intelligence & Strategic Reporting
- Develop account-level intelligence including organizational charts, strategic priorities, and decision-maker mapping.
- Prepare and deliver account summaries and retention forecasts to leadership, highlighting risks and engagement trends.
- Translate client insights into recommendations for product enhancement, pricing strategies, or service delivery improvement.
- Maintain a clear record of communications and updates in Salesforce.
Client Retention & Renewal Stewardship
- Own the retention rhythm for assigned accounts through ongoing relationship engagement and renewal preparation.
- Anticipate account risk by tracking utilization trends, service performance, and client sentiment.
- Lead renewal planning discussions with the client and internal stakeholders to ensure continuity of programs and revenue.
Opportunity Identification & Sales Collaboration
- Identify and qualify potential opportunities for new or expanded products through deep account insight and client dialogue.
- Engage the assigned Sales Executive to pursue those opportunities, providing context and strategic positioning support.
- Support Sales with relationship access, background briefings, and advocacy to maximize conversion potential.
Issue Resolution & Service Quality
- Monitor client satisfaction and proactively surface potential service or operational risks.
- Partner with internal operations and dispatch teams to ensure timely problem resolution.
- Document root-cause insights and share trends that inform process improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field (MBA preferred but not required).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in account management, client success, or partner relationship roles, ideally within insurance, automotive, financial services, or B2B program management environments.
- Proven history of retaining and growing key accounts through relationship strength, business insight, and structured renewal planning.
- Experience collaborating with Sales Executives, Product, Underwriting, and Operations to align client outcomes with revenue and profitability goals.
