Helium Health offers a comprehensive Healthtech platform, providing a range of solutions for healthcare providers, payers, and patients in emerging markets. At the core of its platform is a SaaS-based Electronic Medical Records and Hospital Management Information System (EMR/HMIS), designed to streamline healthcare management and delivery
Engagement Description
Helium Health is looking for a talented Strategic Finance expert to join their team as Head, Finance. In this key role, the successful candidate will lead financial management and drive strategic decision-making with timely and accurate financial insights. The key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the development and implementation of financial accounting and reporting systems
- Managing financial performance, including working capital, investments, and cash flow
- Preparing monthly management reports, annual budgets, and financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Presenting financial results and recommendations to management and the Board of Directors
Initial Focus and Deliverables (first 1-3 months):
- Standardizing finance processes
- Conducting a company valuation exercise
- Implementing company-wide cost management strategies
Full-scale Responsibilities:
Financial Management
- Developing and executing financial strategy, monitoring performance and finance across the organization
- Creating and maintaining a framework for financial management, including policies, procedures, and controls
- Ensuring wise use of financial resources, making informed decisions and driving growth
- Building a culture of financial acumen and accountability across the company
- Developing and implementing operational planning and financial control systems
Management Accounting
- Implement a robust and compliant accounting framework, ensuring accurate financial transactions and reporting
- Manage expenditures, keeping a close eye on budget adherence
- Optimize treasury management, sourcing, applying, and growing funds
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, leaders, regulators, auditors, and agencies
- Liaise with auditors, resolving queries and ensuring a seamless audit process
- Advise Executive Management on changes in fiscal regulations, policies, tariffs, and legislation
Reports to: CFO
Professional Qualifications:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, CIPFA, or ACCA)
Experience:
*10-14 years of relevant work experience in financial management
Skills and Competencies:
- Strategic financial management expertise
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial issues and models for all stakeholders
- Proven analytical and modeling skills, with commercial acumen and confidence in communication
- Strong understanding of financial compliance issues in Nigeria
- Ability to critically review and challenge assumptions in financial forecasts
Nice to have:
- Ex-consulting experience or experience with international/multinational firms
Education:
*First Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.

- Lagos (preferred), but strong candidates from other locations may be considered
