Strategic Finance Manager
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Strategic Finance Manager based in Canada.
This role offers the opportunity to become a key financial partner to founders and senior leadership within a rapidly growing international business.
You will take ownership of critical finance operations while building the systems, controls and reporting needed to support global expansion.
The position combines accounting, financial analysis, forecasting, cash management and strategic business performance.
You will work across multiple markets, properties and business units to uncover risks, improve profitability and strengthen financial visibility.
A strong focus on automation, technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) will allow you to modernize finance processes and eliminate manual work.
You will collaborate closely with operations, revenue management, property teams, external advisers and senior leaders.

Accountabilities
- Lead and continuously improve financial controls and management reporting, ensuring financial information is accurate, complete, validated and supported by reliable evidence.
- Identify repetitive and manual finance activities and work with engineering or technology teams to streamline and automate processes.
- Reconcile payments from booking platforms, direct reservations and other distribution partners, ensuring expected funds are received accurately and on time.
- Reconcile bank accounts and incoming transactions, investigate discrepancies and ensure all funds are properly recorded.
- Monitor and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Review supplier invoices and company expenses for accuracy, completeness and appropriate financial treatment.
- Oversee statutory filings and corporate compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
- Coordinate with external accountants, tax advisers, auditors and banking partners to maintain reliable financial records and support compliance.
- Prepare or support financial statements for landlords and property owners when required.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools that provide management with clear and timely visibility into business performance.
- Analyze financial results across individual properties, cities, countries and business units to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
- Build and maintain budgets, forecasts and financial models to support strategic and operational planning.
- Monitor cash flow and support leadership in assessing future funding and capital requirements.
- Identify financial risks, discrepancies and potential sources of revenue leakage.
- Analyze the company cost base and identify opportunities to improve margins and operational efficiency.
- Partner with operational teams to understand, control and reduce property-level costs.
- Contribute to financial due diligence for acquisitions, investments and expansion into new markets.
- Present financial findings, recommendations and actionable insights directly to founders and senior management.
- Establish increasingly reliable and scalable finance processes while taking ownership of progressively broader areas of the finance function.
- Strong analytical ability and confidence working with financial and operational data.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high standard of financial accuracy.
- Strong understanding of accounting concepts, financial principles and financial controls.
- Experience working with significant volumes of financial information and identifying discrepancies or trends.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Strong capabilities in financial reconciliation, controls and structured problem-solving.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to interpret financial results and understand their wider business implications.
- Strong ownership, accountability and responsibility for the quality and accuracy of work.
- Ability to work independently, find solutions and navigate unfamiliar or ambiguous challenges.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Relevant experience in accounting, audit, investment banking, private equity, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), consulting, hospitality, real estate or a high-growth startup is highly valuable.
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Mathematics or another analytical discipline is preferred, while exceptional candidates from other backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
