Drive Google's payments partnerships in Japan and Korea by negotiating with banks, PSPs, and regulators, ensuring compliance and optimizing transaction processing for products like YouTube and Commerce.
Google's payments platform powers billions of transactions across our products ( AdWords , Play, Cloud, Youtube , gStore, etc.). Our Payments Partnership team builds strategic relationships to ensure a reliable, cost-effective, and secure commerce experience for all Google users.
As a Strategic Partner Manager, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, etc.) to forge and manage partnerships with key players in the payments ecosystem to support our payment transaction processing for all Google products and services.
Your will own management of these partnerships, and advocate on behalf of Google to engage with business, industry and regulatory leaders to optimize Google's payment processes, ensuring seamless user experiences while driving sustainability for compliance, innovation in scalability and efficiency across the industry.
- Guide Google product teams on the market-specific payments best practices, potential partners, industry regulations, and compliance requirements in Japan and Korea.
- Manage the full lifecycle of partnership development, including leading Request for Information (RFIs), Request for Proposal (RFPs), agreement negotiations, and ongoing business relationships with partners, such as forms of payments, Payment Service Provider (PSPs), Banks and Network partnerships, etc.
- Analyze partner scorecards, metrics, and assessments to drive continuous improvement, and optimise/reduce cost of transaction processing to improve profitability.
- Represent Google in strategic dialogues with partners, networks, issuers, acquirers, and regulators to enhance processing capabilities, compliance, and market sustainability.
- Identify and advocate industry improvements across the payments landscape in Japan and Korea. Shape partner strategy to align with Google's product roadmap and emerging trends.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience in business development, partnerships, management consulting, or investment banking.
- Experience working with C-level executives and cross-functionally across all levels of management.
- Ability to communicate in English and Japanese fluently as this is a customer-facing role that requires communicating with clients and stakeholders locally and internationally.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or other advanced degree.
- 10 years of success in developing and managing partnerships within the payments industry in Japan or Korea.
- Experience securing payment processing or ancillary service agreements through direct negotiations or engagements with processors, issuers, acquirers, networks, or regulators.
- Deep knowledge of the payment processing regulations, operating rules, and standard contract terms in Japan or Korea.
- Ability to communicate in English, Japanese and Korean fluently to effectively engage with local partners and stakeholders in the region.
