The opportunity
We are looking for a Strategic Resilience Programme Lead to lead Council’s strategic work programme for community resilience, sustainability and adaptation planning, including nature-based solutions.
This role works alongside communities, iwi / hapū, businesses, funders and partner agencies to support local resilience responses and initiatives. It also works closely with Council’s emergency management, planning, parks and reserves, and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated resilience outcomes.
A key focus of the role is to increase the scale and impact of resilience and adaptation initiatives by attracting external investment and building effective co-funding partnerships.
You will bring strong relationship, facilitation and connector skills, and be confident working across different perspectives to turn strategy into practical action. You will also be able to translate technical information into clear, meaningful language for communities, partners and stakeholders. A minimum of five years' experience in a senior lead role is required.
The role is best suited to someone who:
Has a tertiary qualification and at least five years experience in climate change, risk, resilience or sustainability related area,
Has a strong understanding of, and experience in, community development,
Has proven skills in managing projects with multiple stakeholders and working with external funding partners.
Has a technical and practical understanding of adaptation and resilience planning, and of energy and emissions management
