Strategic Sourcing Manager (Food & Non-Food Categories)
What's the Job?
Great sourcing is about more than getting the right price. It’s about building the right supplier partnerships, understanding the market, and finding smarter ways to create value across the business.
We’re looking for a Strategic Sourcing Manager to help do exactly that.
What You’ll Be Doing
Working across an approximately $500M annual procurement portfolio, you’ll develop and execute category strategies that strengthen supplier performance, improve efficiency and uncover opportunities for savings and added value. You’ll work across Food and Non-Food categories, partnering with suppliers and teams across the business to turn sourcing strategy into measurable results.
Details
As our Strategic Sourcing Manager, you’ll play a key role and be at the forefront of building partnerships that deliver value, quality, and performance - with a focus on food (protein, produce, grocery) and non-food (autonomous robots, janitorial, chemical) categories.
- Build category strategies that align with Dexterra’s business priorities and evolving operational needs.
- Lead sourcing initiatives from RFP development and bid analysis through supplier evaluation and selection.
- Find opportunities to create value through cost savings, supplier rationalization, specification optimization and continuous improvement.
- Stay ahead of the market by analyzing industry trends, market conditions and pricing dynamics.
- Develop and negotiate supplier agreements, including pricing, service scope and contract terms, and manage performance throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Strengthen supplier performance through segmentation, performance management and strategic relationship building.
- Partner across the business to identify synergies, leverage scale and drive procurement efficiencies nationally and internationally.
- Use data to drive decisions, monitoring spend, supplier performance and compliance and translating insights into action.
- Manage supplier risk, identifying potential vulnerabilities and supporting mitigation strategies for critical services and asset-based categories.
- Improve how we work by strengthening supply chain processes, category programs and sourcing effectiveness.
- Support strong procurement governance and compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements and procurement standards.
Who are we looking for?
You’re a sourcing professional who can see the bigger picture while still getting into the details. You’re comfortable working with suppliers, negotiating agreements and using market and spend data to make sound business decisions.
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Business or Commerce, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of related experience, ideally in strategic sourcing, procurement or category management.
- Experience with category-based buying and a strong understanding of supplier capabilities.
- Strong negotiation, financial and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical capabilities and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- The ability to build productive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders and work effectively across business units.
- Strong organizational, time-management and decision-making skills.
- An understanding of logistics and broadline distribution is an asset.
- Experience with Food and Non-Food/Food Service Products is an asset.
