Strategic Sourcing Specialist – API Raw Materials & Intermediates (Polpharma’s India team in Mumbai)

As a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you will be responsible for building and executing sourcing strategies for intermediates and raw materials used in API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) production. The role plays a key part in securing cost-efficient, compliant, and reliable supply within a pharmaceutical GMP environment, while leveraging group synergies across Polpharma.
You will ensure the optimal balance between total cost of ownership, quality, regulatory compliance, and supply continuity.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead strategic sourcing activities for API intermediates and raw materials within the Polpharma Group.
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes: supplier scouting, RFQs, bid evaluations, negotiations, supplier selection, and qualification in line with GMP and quality standards.
- Develop and implement category strategies tailored to pharmaceutical API sourcing, aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
- Secure supply continuity and mitigate risks related to quality, compliance, geopolitics, and logistics.
- Monitor purchasing budgets, standard costs, PPV savings, and support working capital optimization (payment terms, inventory).
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (Quality, R&D, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs).
- Conduct supplier performance reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Apply market intelligence, benchmarks, and global procurement best practices.
- Act in line with Polpharma’s values, ethical standards, and ESG commitments.
Our Requirements
- Minimum 6 years of experience in Procurement, preferably within pharmaceutical, chemical, or API manufacturing.
- Proven experience in sourcing API intermediates and/or chemical raw materials.
- Solid understanding of GMP requirements, supplier qualification, and quality-driven procurement.
- University degree in economics, supply chain, chemistry, pharmacy, or a related technical field.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Willingness to travel and work on-site.
