Strategic Technology Sourcing & Order Operations Specialist
ROLE MISSION
Give the Sales team a near real time sourcing and order execution engine. This person finds products others struggle to find, returns competitive pricing and availability quickly, converts approved opportunities into accurate Sales Orders and Purchase Orders, and continuously improves the workflow.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is not a passive procurement or administrative purchasing role. The right person enjoys the hunt. When a device is constrained, discontinued, backordered, unusually configured, or difficult to locate, their instinct is to start calling, texting, emailing, checking distribution, working relationships, and finding a solution.
The role is broader than traditional purchasing. We need someone who combines technology product knowledge, vendor relationships, creative sourcing, rapid quoting, order creation, operational accuracy, commercial judgment, and process improvement. The ideal candidate behaves more like an internal deal desk and sourcing operator than a transactional purchasing coordinator.
TOP 3 PRIORITIES
1. Rapid sourcing and quoting
• Source standard, constrained, discontinued, allocation limited, and hard to find mobile devices and technology products.
• Return actionable pricing and availability to Sales in less than one business hour whenever reasonably possible.
• Provide clear options covering cost, availability, lead time, condition, warranty, freight, and credible alternatives.
• Use both traditional and nontraditional sourcing channels while protecting supplier quality and risk.
2. Accurate order execution
• Create Sales Orders and Purchase Orders accurately and quickly.
• Validate SKUs, quantities, pricing, vendor, carrier compatibility, condition, warranty, availability, shipping requirements, customer requirements, sell price, margin, and supplier terms before release.
• Track open sourcing requests and purchase commitments through completion.
• Escalate issues before they impact Sales or the customer.
3. Near real time process improvement identification
• Identify recurring bottlenecks across sourcing, quoting, order creation, vendor communication, and handoffs.
• Improve templates, systems, workflows, automation opportunities, and communication standards.
• Build stronger vendor relationships and develop new sourcing channels before they are urgently needed.
• Use data to improve response time, order accuracy, pricing, supplier performance, and overall deal economics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Rapidly source smartphones, tablets, laptops, accessories, networking products, peripherals, and related technology requested by Sales.
• Maintain and expand a strong network of OEMs, authorized distributors, wholesalers, resellers, brokers, and other reliable suppliers.
• Proactively identify alternatives when the requested item is unavailable, constrained, or commercially unattractive.
• Negotiate with vendors to improve cost, availability, payment terms, freight, and overall deal economics.
• Partner closely with Sales, Operations, Finance, Warehouse, and leadership to remove friction from quote to order workflows.
• Protect order accuracy, margin, customer commitments, and supplier quality while operating with urgency.
