Structural Drafter/Engineer

This is a remote position.

Our client is looking for a Structural Drafter/Engineer to independently develop accurate, coordinated, and high-quality structural construction documents using Autodesk Revit. They operate in the structural engineering industry and have expanded a diverse project portfolio across multiple U.S. states and sectors, including commercial, aviation, healthcare, educational, municipal, and residential developments.

The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience modeling and detailing structural systems and can take projects from initial architectural backgrounds through complete construction document packages with minimal supervision. This position requires strong technical judgment, attention to detail, time-management skills, and the confidence to identify inconsistencies before they affect project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Independently create structural Revit models and complete construction document sets from initial architectural backgrounds through final submittal.
  • Model, document, and detail structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, wood framing, and light-gauge metal studs.
  • Translate three-dimensional structural models into accurate plans, sections, schedules, and two-dimensional construction details.
  • Develop clear details for foundations, framing systems, structural connections, and other essential building components.
  • Apply a practical understanding of structural load paths when preparing drawings and coordinating construction details.
  • Review architectural information and engineering direction to identify missing details, inconsistencies, or potential constructability concerns.
  • Communicate discrepancies and propose practical solutions to the project engineer before they affect schedules or deliverables.
  • Incorporate engineering markups, redlines, and design revisions accurately and efficiently.
  • Use AutoCAD to review, modify, or integrate legacy drawings and reference files.
  • Use Bluebeam for document review, markups, QA/QC, and revision tracking.
  • Maintain consistent sheet organization, annotation standards, naming conventions, and drawing presentation across project packages.
  • Verify that drawings follow applicable building codes, industry drafting practices, and established company standards.
  • Coordinate structural models with architectural, MEP, and civil information when required.
  • Perform basic clash detection and resolve model conflicts in collaboration with other disciplines.
  • Manage several assignments simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting demanding deadlines.
  • Estimate drafting hours and communicate potential scheduling or workload concerns proactively.
  • Collaborate effectively with remote and in-house engineers, designers, and project stakeholders.
  • Maintain organized project files, models, drawing sets, revisions, and supporting documentation.

Requirements

  • At least 3 to 5 years of dedicated structural Revit modeling and detailing experience.
  • Candidates with 10 to 20 years of relevant experience are strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit, specifically for structural modeling and construction documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience producing structural construction documents for multiple building materials, including:
    • Structural steel
    • Reinforced concrete
    • Masonry
    • Wood framing
    • Light-gauge metal stud systems
  • Ability to take a project from architectural backgrounds through a complete construction document submittal with limited oversight.
  • Strong understanding of structural load paths, foundation systems, framing layouts, and connection detailing.
  • Ability to produce accurate two-dimensional construction details from three-dimensional models.
  • Working proficiency in AutoCAD for legacy files, backgrounds, and supplemental drafting.
  • Experience using Bluebeam for markups, redline revisions, document control, and quality reviews.
  • Familiarity with standard U.S. building codes, structural drafting conventions, and uniform sheet setups.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, meet tight deadlines, and estimate required drafting hours.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the initiative to identify modeling conflicts or design discrepancies.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate successfully with remote U.S.-based engineering teams.
  • Reliable computer equipment and internet connectivity suitable for remote Revit production.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Drafting and Design, Civil Engineering Technology, Structural Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Equivalent technical education and substantial relevant work experience may also be considered.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience supporting U.S. structural engineering, architecture, or construction projects is highly desirable.
  • Autodesk Revit or BIM-related training or certifications are an advantage.
  • A portfolio or redacted work samples demonstrating structural Revit modeling and construction documentation are strongly preferred.

Benefits

  • Full-time opportunity.
  • 100% remote position.
  • Opportunity to work on structural engineering projects for the U.S. market.
