As we continue to strengthen our Underground Assets and Trenchless Technology (UATT) team’s capability to service clients, we are seeking a Structural Engineer with approximately 5 to 8 years’ experience to support the delivery of complex underground structures, trenchless construction, temporary works and asset rehabilitation projects across various sectors.

The Opportunity
Based in WSP’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) located in Manilla, Philippines. You will support the planning, analysis, design and delivery of structural engineering packages across WSP’s multidisciplinary project portfolio. You will work closely with principal and senior engineers, project managers and digital delivery teams to develop practical, high-quality outcomes for our clients.
What You’ll Do
Undertake structural analysis, design and documentation for underground structures, shafts, trenchless construction methods, temporary works and related civil infrastructure packages.
Support investigations, condition assessments and structural appraisals of existing assets affected by construction activities or rehabilitation requirements.
Prepare design calculations, reports, specifications and technical inputs in accordance with project requirements and Australian Standards.
Coordinate with geotechnical, civil, mechanical, construction and digital teams to develop practical and buildable design solutions.
Provide construction-phase support, including responses to technical queries, design reviews and site-based input where required.
Technical and project contribution
Contribute to optioneering, design development, technical reviews and multidisciplinary workshops.
Manage your own work packages to programme and budget, with support from senior staff as required.
Apply sound engineering judgement, safety in design principles and quality assurance processes throughout project delivery.
Use structural analysis and design software confidently, and continue building capability in advanced modelling, digital engineering and efficient design approaches.
Support the team through effective collaboration, checking and knowledge sharing.
Client and commercial contribution
Support the delivery of high-quality outputs that build client confidence and strengthen long-term relationships.
Assist with preparing technical inputs for proposals, fee estimates, methodology development and tender submissions.
Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency, constructability and value for clients across project stages.
Key requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Approximately 5 to 8 years’ experience in structural engineering design and project delivery, ideally within infrastructure, water or underground structures.
Practical first-principles engineering and constructability knowledge, with the ability to develop effective designs and carry out space proofing for brownfield installations within complex existing site constraints.
Experience in reinforced concrete and steel design, structural assessment and preparation of engineering calculations and reports.
Working knowledge of Australian Standards, safety in design requirements and quality management processes.
Proficiency in relevant structural analysis and design software, with the ability to coordinate effectively with drafting and BIM/digital delivery teams.
Strong 2D AutoCAD capability, including preparation of engineering sketches and drawings, is highly desirable.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
Progressing toward Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or equivalent professional registration is desirable.
