Structural Steel CNC Equipment Operator

Starting Pay: From $23.00 per hour (higher compensation may be available based on experience)
Position Overview
We are looking for a dependable CNC Equipment Operator to support structural steel fabrication operations. This position is responsible for operating CNC-controlled machinery used to process steel components while ensuring quality, accuracy, and safe production practices.
The ideal candidate has experience working in a heavy manufacturing environment, understands fabrication drawings, and is comfortable operating industrial equipment in a fast-paced production setting.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC fabrication equipment, including plasma cutters, beam drill lines, and angle lines.
Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, work orders, and production specifications.
Load, position, and secure steel beams, plates, and other materials using overhead cranes and rigging equipment.
Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain quality and dimensional accuracy.
Verify finished parts using precision measuring tools, including tape measures, calipers, and squares.
Make basic CNC programming edits or machine adjustments for varying material sizes and thicknesses.
Perform routine machine maintenance and assist with basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
Maintain an organized work area while following OSHA guidelines and established shop safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Technical school or trade school training is a plus.
At least two years of experience operating CNC equipment in structural steel fabrication or another heavy manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret structural steel fabrication drawings and blueprints.
Experience using precision measuring tools to inspect finished work.
Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a production team.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Experience
Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment.
Familiarity with handling large structural steel components in a fabrication shop.
