Student Guidance Support Officer

Immediate Support
- to serve as first responderfor student management incidents and matters that compromise the safety ofmembers of the school
- to de-escalate situationswith the student(s) to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment
- to render immediate supportto teachers in managing students’ behaviourial and peer-relationship issues
Corrective Approach
- to lead in fact-finding andinvestigations of student misconduct and bullying cases, in line with schoolguidelines and processes
- to discipline students withrespect and treat them with dignity
- to recommend and implementfollow-up actions (detention, corrective work order, in-school suspension) formisconduct in line with the school policy
Preventive and RestorativeInterventions
- to conduct Home visits with amember of the Student Development Team to reach out to students to assess riskybehaviours
- to conduct periodicneighbourhood patrol to ensure that students conduct themselves well beyondschool compounds
- to supervise students placedon Student Development Programmes (GEAR UP Programme, Special Education NeedProgramme)
- to facilitate timely andeffective communication with parents/ guardians relating to
- to engage parents on thenecessary preventive and restorative interventions for the student(s) suggestedby School
- to partner external agencies,including the Singapore Police Force, the Ministry of Social and FamilyDevelopment and Family Service Centres (where necessary)
- to review disciplinary trends
- to suggest proactivecharacter development initiatives to the Student Development Team (leverage onexisting programmes)
Administrative andOperations Support
- to assist with fact-findinginto cases (interviews with students, watching CCTV) and process the cases withthe Student Guidance Team
- to document case findingsaccurately and maintain proper records on student interventions, so as toensure parity and continuity of care
- to update student recordsinto the school intranet system
- to providethe administrative support, where necessary
Qualification:
The Personnel shall have atleast 3 years’ relevant experience in youth engagement, especially in thecontext of school, managing students with social emotional issues and/orlearning difficulties.
