Role Overview

As the Subject Head for Phonics & Reading at Mind Stretcher, you will take ownership of our Pre-Primary Phonics & Reading programme, leading its redesign and academic innovation. You will be a part of conceptualising, building, and refining the curriculum, worksheets, and teaching materials, while leading and building a team of educators to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery. This role is ideal for an experienced early childhood educator with a strong command of phonics and reading instruction who is ready to shape a programme from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Head and oversee the current Pre-Primary Phonics & Reading programme.

  • Lead the redesign of the existing programme, conceptualizing and building up a refreshed curriculum framework.

  • Develop new worksheets, lesson materials, and curriculum content aligned with best practices in phonics and reading instruction.

  • Lead, guide, and support a team of teachers in the effective delivery of the programme.

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to team members to strengthen their teaching of phonics and reading.

  • Monitor programme effectiveness and student outcomes, refining content and pedagogy based on classroom feedback and results.

  • Collaborate with academic leadership on curriculum planning and programme rollout.

  • Participate in periodic curriculum reviews and academic planning meetings.

  • Any other duties assigned by the Reporting Officer (RO).

Requirements

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education or a related field is required; a higher qualification is an advantage.

  • 8–10 years of experience in early childhood education.

  • Strong teaching experience in the Pre-Primary level, with a solid background in Phonics & Reading.

  • Proven experience leading or supervising a team of educators.

  • Strong English language and communication skills, both written and spoken.

  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, design, and build curriculum programmes from the ground up.

  • Strong attention to detail, creativity, and a passion for early childhood education.
