Substitute, Middle or Upper School Teacher
Substitute Teachers play a vital role in supporting student learning and maintaining continuity in the classroom during a teacher’s absence. Under the direction of school leadership, the Substitute Teacher provides instruction to large and small groups, either by implementing lesson plans prepared by the classroom teacher or by developing appropriate plans as needed. Substitutes are expected to maintain a positive and orderly learning environment, uphold school standards for student behavior, and ensure smooth classroom operations. Depending on the length of the assignment, duties may also include grading assignments, checking homework, and providing feedback. Substitutes may also be assigned additional responsibilities such as lunch or recess supervision. A typical day is approximately 8 hours.
