Substitute Paraprofessional 2026-2027 School Year
To assist instructional staff in providing academic, behavioral, and personal support to individual students or groups of students in the absence of the regular Paraprofessional, maintaining an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications
- Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma (or GED equivalent)
- State Clearances: Clear State of New Jersey Criminal History Record Check (fingerprinting) approved for public school employment.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and adaptability when supporting students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
- Ability to follow daily routines, teacher instructions, and student support plans effectively.
Responsibilities
- Instructional Support: Assist individual students or small groups with instructional tasks and classroom activities as directed by the certified classroom teacher.
- Behavioral & IEP Support: Help carry out student accommodations and support strategies outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) under the guidance of certified staff.
- Daily Living & Personal Care Support: Provide physical or personal care assistance as needed (e.g., mobility, physical support, or assistance during lunch and transitions).
- Student Supervision: Assist in supervising students during non-instructional times, including arrival/dismissal, recess, hallway transitions, and cafeteria duty.
- Classroom Environment: Maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly environment, reporting any student progress, behavioral concerns, or incidents to the classroom teacher or school administration.
- Confidentiality: Adhere to district policies and state regulations to protect student privacy and special education information.
Salary: $104/day (Flexible scheduling via Frontline Absence Management)
