Substitute Pilates Instructor

Description

Start with substitute classes. Grow with Solterra.

Solterra Wellness Club is seeking qualified Pilates instructors for substitute teaching at The Galaxy at Polaris in Columbus. If you would like to teach at Solterra but are not ready to commit to a recurring weekly schedule, this is a practical way to join our teaching community, meet our members, and get to know the club.

This is an as-needed, independent contractor (1099) opportunity. Substitute instructors cover agreed classes when regular instructors are away, including planned absences and occasional short-notice openings. You can share your availability and accept coverage that fits your schedule. A minimum number of classes or hours is not guaranteed.

A PATH TO MORE
Substitute teaching gives you an opportunity to demonstrate your teaching, reliability, and connection with members. As recurring classes, private sessions, or specialty programming become available, qualified substitutes may be considered based on training, performance, availability, and club needs. A recurring assignment is not guaranteed.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Teach safe, engaging Reformer and/or Mat Pilates classes within your training and demonstrated competency.
- Use clear cueing, thoughtful progressions, and appropriate modifications for different experience levels.
- Coordinate accepted coverage and class expectations with Reham, our Lead Instructor.
- Arrive prepared, care for the studio and equipment, and create a welcoming experience for every member.

Our Pilates studio features 12 Balanced Body Allegro 2 Reformers with Towers. Assignments will match your qualifications; Mat-only training does not qualify you to teach Reformer classes.

WHAT YOU BRING
- Recognized Pilates training or certification appropriate to the formats you teach, plus the ability to lead a group safely and confidently.
- Strong understanding of alignment, movement mechanics, modifications, and professional boundaries.
- Reliability, clear communication, and attentive member care.
- Current CPR/AED certification, or willingness to obtain it before teaching.

Experienced instructors and newly certified instructors with strong practical teaching skills are welcome. Comprehensive certification is not required for every assignment; appropriate Reformer training is required for Reformer coverage.

COMPENSATION
- $30–$45 base pay per completed group class, based on experience, training, and format.
- An additional $3 for each checked-in member over eight in the class.
- Private-session compensation is agreed separately when applicable.
- Discounts on Solterra services, retail, and cafe offerings.

Pay is per completed class, not a guaranteed hourly wage. Teaching opportunities and start dates depend on the club schedule and site readiness.

APPLY
Tell us about your Pilates training, formats you can teach, teaching experience, and general availability, including any evenings or weekends. A resume is welcome but optional at initial application. Apply here or email info@solterrawellnessclub.com. No cover letter is needed.

Build a connection with Solterra through thoughtful instruction, one class at a time. Teaching is part of our three connected pillars: Strength, Stillness, Renewal.
