POSITION TITLE: SUBSTITUTE TEACHER
RESPONSIBLE TO: School Principal
EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Daily by request- Maximum 8 hours per day
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To provide for the competent application of instructional plans for an assigned class of students in the absence of the regular teacher. Becomes thoroughly familiar with the materials and instructions provided by the school system in the substitute teacher workshop. Meets and instructs all classes and duties normally assigned to the teacher for whom the substitute teacher is serving. Follows the teacher’s plans and program of study using materials and equipment provided. Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner consistent with school rules and procedures. Maintains familiarity with the course of study as set forth in the county curriculum guides. Carries out the policies of the Coweta County Board of Education as they relate to the school, to the classroom and to contacts with pupils and parents under the supervision of the local school principal. Cooperates professionally with all fellow workers and with the administration of the school. Complies with any reasonable oral or written directive of the principal or other appropriate administrators.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING:
Minimum high school diploma, Associate degree or higher preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Ability to organize, direct and control children in a variety of settings and instructional activities. The ability to adjust to changing conditions and situations.Minimum high school diploma, Associate degree or higher preferred.
