Floater – Production Support (Secondary Assembly / Material Handling / Machine Room / Barker Beds)

Position Summary

The Floater is a versatile production team member responsible for supporting multiple departments throughout the facility based on business needs. This position provides coverage in Secondary Assembly, Water Spider, Material Handling, Machine Room, and Barker Beds operations. The Floater plays a critical role in maintaining production flow, supporting staffing needs, ensuring materials are available, and assisting with production requirements across departments.

The ideal candidate is flexible, dependable, safety-focused, and capable of learning multiple job functions while maintaining quality and productivity standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Secondary Assembly Support

• Assemble products according to established work instructions and quality standards.
• Inspect products for defects and ensure finished goods meet company specifications.
• Package and prepare products for shipment.
• Maintain production pace while ensuring product quality.

Water Spider Responsibilities

• Deliver raw materials, components, and supplies to production areas.
• Remove completed products and scrap materials from workstations.
• Monitor material levels and proactively replenish production lines.
• Support efficient workflow and minimize downtime.

Material Handler Responsibilities

• Transport materials and finished goods throughout the facility safely and efficiently.
• Stage materials for production runs.
• Assist with inventory movements and stock replenishment.
• Operate material handling equipment as trained and authorized.

Machine Room Support

• Assist machine operators with production needs.
• Supply materials and remove finished products.
• Perform basic quality inspections and production support tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization within the department.

Barker Beds Department Support

• Assist with production, assembly, packaging, and material movement.
• Support department productivity goals and quality standards.
• Fill staffing gaps as needed to ensure operational continuity.

Additional Responsibilities

• Cross-train in multiple departments and job functions.
• Fill open positions or staffing shortages as directed by leadership.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred.
• Ability to learn multiple job functions and work in various departments.
• Strong attendance and reliability record.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the shift.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to safely operate material handling equipment after training and certification, if required.
