Mandatory Facility Manager Qualification Note
NOTE: Based upon the facility classification, categorization and the complexity of operations, the FM qualification process is more rigorous for a Nuclear facility than a Radiological facility. Supplemental qualification for a FM of a Nuclear facility requires successful completion of a comprehensive written examination and an oral board examination stressing the facility’s safety basis requirements, facility boundary, composition and mission, facility safety (nuclear, radiological, industrial and environmental), conduct of operations requirements, the Integrated Work Control Program, facility resources and management organization. The initial and supplemental qualification requirements are set forth in UCOR-4113, UCOR Nuclear and Radiological Facilities Qualification Standard.
Supplemental qualification for an FM for a Radiological facility requires a facility walkthrough including facility specific questions, and a written statement by the Facility Manager that the facility safety basis documents have been read and understood. The supplemental qualification requirements are set forth in UCOR-4113.
