Superintendent

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans and coordinates project start-up in conjunction with Project and Operation Managers
  • Required work could consist of; 10 or more weeks of being on a jobsite and working either day shift or night shift
  • Orders or requisitions materials, supplies, tools, and schedules equipment rentals;
  • Inspects and confirms the quality, price, and correct quantities of all deliveries;
  • Conducts pre-job meetings with major sub-contractors;
  • Operates as field liaison to owner throughout construction process;
  • Maintains field P.O. and Rental Log;
  • Monitors jobsite safety and take appropriate action to address and correct deficiencies;
  • Collects and processes daily reports;
  • Routinely inspects work progress, equipment, and construction site to maintain compliance with contract specifications and company quality and safety standards;
  • Takes immediate and appropriate action to correct any potential safety hazards;
  • Supervises, coordinates, and schedules the activities of field personnel and sub-contractors;
  • Determines field personnel for each project and assigns work based on the requirements of the project;
  • Conducts weekly "Tool Box Talks" and maintains all associated reports;
  • Investigates and reports any accidents to Corporate Safety Director, and Project Manager;
  • Creates and accurately maintains cost/labor reports;
  • Maintains and ensures all equipment, vehicles, and machinery is operating properly and safely, arranges repairs and/or replacements, as necessary;
  • Trains field personnel in construction methods, operation of equipment, safety procedures, and/or company policies;
  • Reports labor time and sign off on all time sheets;
  • Represents Company at all times with professionalism and a commitment to quality;
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations to include health, safety, and welfare as appropriate;
  • Other duties as assigned by Company Management.

• Maintains knowledge of industry trends and helps ensure company's compliance.
• Exhibits regular and reliable attendance at work.

Job Skills, Ability and Experience
• Requires 7-10 years experience working in commercial field construction.
• Experience in handling commercial property maintenance preferred.
• Post Secondary Degree in related subject preferred.
• OSHA 30 Hour Certification preferred.
• Strong communication skills both verbally and written.
• Proficiency in the use of technology.
• Must be willing to travel extensively.
• Must be able to write reasonably detailed reports and work unsupervised.
• Must have good understanding of construction and trades, and the ability to work in a professional manner with subcontractors and store management.
