About the job:

Implement, plan, direct, coordinate and control the functions and activities of the shipping projects (shipbuilding, acquisition, repair, modification). Spearhead the design and approval process of FSRU conversion of Moss type LNG vessels. Plan and organize the allocated project management of FSRU conversion of Moss type LNGc. Implement and monitor projects across the fleet, ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations and contributing to operational cost savings with optimized design. Build experience in dealing with LNG engineering partners and FSRU equipment makers. Conduct various contract creation/development/execution for life extension and conversion works for Moss type LNGc. Provide technical expertise and advice to management/clients on various project related matters and peer review of project/technical proposals.

Remotely manage shipbuilding, acquisition, repair dry docking, modification projects, from initial phase to completion ensuring all works and services fully comply with the contract terms and conditions and specifications, quality, health, safety, and the environmental policy requirements, in addition to maintaining schedule and approved budget limits. Build and maintain strong relationships with shipyards, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and effective execution of fleet management activities. Remotely oversee ship conversion projects, ensuring smooth transitions and upgrades to enhance vessel capabilities and meet new regulatory requirements. Ensure ADNOC codes of practice are followed, supporting ADNOC Logistics & Services in the execution of projects.

Key accountabilities

  • Function as the superintendent, projects (shipping) for the ship(s) project(s) design and construction covering all phases from inception to completion, design, acquisition, dry dock repair, conversion and modification projects.
  • Develop and implement all fleet-wide projects that align with International Maritime Organization (IMO) targets and global standards.
  • Create business case submittals as received and discuss details with end-user departments, as necessary in consultation with the manager.
  • Monitor, advise and motivate the project(s) management team(s) ensuring effective implementation of the related project(s) plans and objectives.
  • Monitor, direct, supervise, and control the project(s) management team(s) and participate in providing estimates for budgeting based on market surveys, development of technical specification, verification of the bidders list, prequalification evaluation, tender technical evaluation, development of tenders’ inquiries, evaluation of design consultants and any other project(s) related technical services provider(s) of FSRU conversion projects.
  • Assist to oversee and govern the entire process of new ship construction, from conceptual design to delivery, ensuring that all phases are executed efficiently and in line with company standards and industry best practices. This includes technical support to the commercial team for technical and regulatory aspects of shipbuilding, pre-contract review, ship specification review, contract negotiation and review.
  • Oversee and govern the entire process of ship conversion projects, ensuring smooth transitions and upgrades to enhance vessel capabilities and meet new regulatory requirements.
  • Review development of cost estimates and schedules related to the project(s) for management endorsement/approval.
  • Monitor the implementation of the total budget, schedules, and quality at various stages of the related project(s) execution periods to ensure adherence to the overall approved plan.
  • Review the performance of the shipbuilders, yards, contractors, consultants and any service/work providers related to the project(s).
  • Coordinate the preparation of the tender documentation and contract documentation, review change requests, variations, claims and endorse recommendations to the management for settlement.
  • Ensure that the contracted ship builder(s), consultant(s) and all other work/service providers related to the project(s) submit the documents and reports, including progress and close-out reports required by the contract(s) in a timely manner.
  • Cooperate and coordinate with others in the department for the preparation of the annual overall work program and the projects plan.
  • Recommend training plans for developers and subordinates with emphasis on UAE nationals within the dedicated team in the projects to optimize their potential and remain up to date in technological development.
  • Responsible for achieving the project objectives and key performance indicators established for projects.
  • At the end of the project, once all objectives and goals are achieved and upon completion of all administrative and contractual obligations, review the project closeout report for management approval.
  • Ensure warranty claims are closed and performance bonds released as per contractual terms and conditions.
  • Assist in other projects as assigned by management.

Support office

  • Assist the VP-Projects in creating the budget.
  • Assist the projects department during the pre-tender, tender, execution of procurement, contracting, variations and amendments.
  • Assist in the design stage of all FSRU and new build projects.
  • Support the projects department in reviewing the proposed payments to shipyards, PMC, designer; and ensure payments are balanced with project progress.
  • Support the projects department in the close-out report and in completing the client satisfaction forms.

Minimum requirements:

  • 5 to 10 years of managerial experience with knowledge of FSRU conversion related project execution and management.
  • Experience as a project manager for FSRU conversion.
  • Moss type LNG conversion experience.
  • Knowledge and skills in design experience dealing with LNG engineering partners and equipment makers.
  • Knowledge and skills in contract creation/development/execution for life extension and conversion works.

Preferred qualification:

  • Possible new building site experience in China and/or Korea.
  • Basic knowledge of Korean and/or Mandarin.

Professional skills:

Planning and management skills, effective oral and written English language skills, communication and administration skills. Knowledge of project management tools, concepts, and principles. Proficiency in Arabic.
