Who are we hiring?
The Part Time Building Operations Supervisor will manage the daily activities of the custodial team and monitor back of house operations during events at The Chicago Theatre. The position’s focus is on facility operations and the oversight of associated building systems as well as the supervision of the event driven staff.
What will you do?
- Assist in managing event budgets and event labor cost.
- Plan and organize responsibilities for event days for custodial team.
- Coordinate event related operations including event set up, installation of event materials, day of event execution and the overnight transition of events.
- Partner with internal departments including Event Production and Guest Services to coordinate repairs and maintenance on systems.
- Maintain a first-class operation to deliver superior service to internal and external clients.
- Evaluate and constantly improve the quality of the Theatre’s cleanliness and overall appearance ensuring that the highest client satisfaction and guest experience are achieved.
- Highly responsive to emergencies in a fast paced, time sensitive environment. Interview candidates for open porter and night cleaner positions and make recommendations for hire.
- Provide labor requirements and review and approve employee schedules, including requests for time off. Coach team and issue disciplinary actions as needed.
- Conduct periodic meetings with team to provide training on proper techniques, services, and monthly progress reports.
- Prepare, provide input, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Attend required trainings.
- Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
- Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site.
What do you need to succeed?
- At least 3-5 years of supervisory experience in facility management.
- Prior experience in facilities management with direct responsibility for supervising back of house operations ideally with building maintenance, mechanical systems maintenance and facilities operations.
- Detail-oriented and able to work on multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced, event driven environment.
- Ability to develop good working relationships with all levels of management
- Proven conflict resolution experience.
- Commitment to provide a high-quality service experience for both internal and external clients.
- Strong experience in supervising cleaning teams and proven leadership skills essential.
- Knowledge of building mechanical systems and facility management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Computer proficient with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Available to work daytime, overnight, evening, weekends, and holidays as required.
Special Requirements
- Must be receptive to working outside in inclement weather and extreme temperatures.
- Must be comfortable with heights (working on high floors) and navigating steep steps and inclines.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. and to push/pull up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to stand and move about the theater throughout the duration of the shift.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, have split days off, work weekends and holidays in a 24 X 7 environment.
