Purpose of the job
Designing, dimensioning, and monitoring of fixed packet core network elements to avail new services and accommodate the necessary capacity that fulfills the company needs.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide fixed packet core network capacity and maintain packet core network quality.
- Issue work orders for operation teams to do planned design changes on fixed packet core equipment (DNS servers, AAA, BNGs, CSGs, embedded DPI, Wi-Fi controllers, caching changes, etc.).
- Perform packet core equipment configuration templates.
- Investigate and implement new software and firmware releases.
- Engineering for fixed packet core platforms and systems.
- Recommend new solutions for packet core systems.
- Build capacity models and manage the upgrade cycle for packet core systems and networks, keeping them aligned with the commercial plans, service demand, and expected budget.
- Prepare project plans for fixed packet core network projects.
- Forecast packet core network and service expansion needs and future capacity requirements based on business plans, usage trends, and sizing of new services.
- Manage ordering and purchasing cycle of all packet core network equipment with vendors and procurement.
- Provide fixed packet core engineering and implementation management with weekly progress reports on ongoing projects.
- Evaluate failure scenarios for major core services.
- Collaborate with surrounding network element vendors.
- Focus on quality of service requirements and investigate problems.
- Training and knowledge transfer for new team members.
Job specification
Education
University degree, Faculty of Engineering - Communications or equivalent.
Experience
3+ years of work experience, 1 of which in a relevant role.
Skills and abilities
Very good English, both written and spoken.
Very good computer skills.
Good communication and negotiation skills required to interface with different departments (like VAS, BSS, SDM/HLR, Data Network, and Charging).
Ability to attend regular workshops with customers and vendors or suppliers.
Ability to support junior team members.
Ability to work under pressure.
Good team player.
