Supervisor Data Network QoS
Purpose of the job
Responsible for evaluating, monitoring, and troubleshooting all the performance aspects of the services carried over the data network, end to end, from the data network perspective.
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintain data network end-to-end quality of service health check reporting.
- Build the database for all network elements across the network.
- Handle quality incidents and complaints related to data network.
- Create and develop end-to-end service reports and dashboards, along with analyzing and troubleshooting across the data network.
- Support during transmission and service outages.
- Achieve and maintain a high quality of service level of the data network and ensure high quality performance while identifying areas of enhancement proactively.
- Monitor, audit, and report the data network links and nodes performance and availability through daily, weekly, and monthly assessment reports.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot, and isolate failures related to data network nodes; provide proactive recommendations to enhance performance.
- Analyze service delay and packet loss and troubleshoot mile-by-mile across the data network.
- Audit the performance and availability parameters, ensuring optimum values.
- Establish a direct relationship between the customer experience and the data network performance issues to interpret and correlate the impact of such issues on customer experience.
- Interact with all departments and vendors to ensure all issues are addressed from the data network perspective.
- Identify and perform diagnosis and investigations of data network problems that directly impact customers.
- Fill the gaps between the different technology teams and act as a liaison between them to reach the best end-to-end customer journey.
Job specifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in telecommunications engineering.
- CCNP certificate, CCIE, or service provider certification is a plus.
Experience:
- 3-5 years in core networks and telecom field.
- Good knowledge in GSM, 3G, and LTE architecture.
- Good knowledge in VAS, SDM/HLR, and IN architecture.
- Good knowledge in packet core (MME, PCRF, SGSN, GGSN).
- Solid knowledge of data network concepts and devices; IP networks, MPLS, traffic engineering.
- Good knowledge of IP QoS, congestion management, traffic policing and shaping, and QoS best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper nodes.
- Good knowledge in scripting.
- Good experience in routing and switching (OSPF, BGP).
- Good knowledge of network elements administration and management concepts including SNMP, network telemetry, KPIs, and translating MIB files.
