At Vincentian, we believe great care starts with great people. As a faith-based nonprofit committed to serving our community, we’re looking for our next Supervisor of Human Resources to join our collaborative People Operations & Engagement team!
In this role, you’ll supervise our HR Generalists and support the recruiting function, while helping shape an employee experience that attracts, develops, and retains talented people. You’ll be part of an established team that values collaboration, compassion, and doing meaningful work every day.
This is a hybrid position, with an expectation of being on-site in Pittsburgh typically one day per week. Candidates should live within a reasonable commuting distance and be willing to work on-site more frequently during special times of year or when additional support is needed for the team.
We’re looking for an experienced HR professional who is a strong relationship-builder, thoughtful problem-solver, and supportive leader who will contribute to our positive team culture.
What You’ll Do
Lead & Develop the HR Team
- Supervise, mentor, and support People Operations & Engagement Specialists and the Lead Talent Specialist.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and feedback to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance across HR functions.
- Lead department onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development.
- Partner with leadership to address employee performance, coaching, and disciplinary matters.
Support Employee Engagement & Experience
- Lead initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, recognition, retention, and workplace culture.
- Oversee employee recognition programs and engagement events, committees, and communications.
- Help create a consistent, welcoming onboarding experience for new employees.
- Partner with managers to strengthen onboarding, retention, and employee engagement strategies.
- Continuously evaluate and improve programs based on employee needs and organizational goals.
- Serve as a trusted resource and internal consultant for employee experience and engagement initiatives.
Provide HR Generalist Support
- Oversee employee relations and provide guidance to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Conduct investigations into employee concerns and workplace issues with discretion and sound judgment.
- Coordinate key HR processes, including FMLA, workers’ compensation, performance management, compliance, and employee relations.
- Maintain accurate and compliant employee records and conduct regular audits.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Support compliance and ethics initiatives by appropriately addressing and reporting concerns.
- Maintain and support HR systems, policies, and procedures.
- Assist with recruiting initiatives and provide support to the Talent Acquisition function as needed.
Collaborate Across Vincentian
- Build strong relationships with employees, managers, and organizational leaders.
- Partner with leadership to identify opportunities to improve the employee experience and strengthen retention.
- Support initiatives that help Vincentian attract and retain a diverse, high-performing workforce.
- Contribute to organizational initiatives focused on quality, exceptional experiences, growth, process improvement, and sustainability.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Human Resources or a comparable HR/services-related role.
- 3+ years of employee relations experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent judgment, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with UKG preferred.
- Ability and willingness to work on-site in Pittsburgh typically one day per week, with flexibility to be on-site more frequently when needed.
