Position Description
Kibali Gold Mine is seeking to recruit a Project Surveyor Supervisor to support the ARK Project mine expansion feasibility study.
The Project Surveyor Supervisor will supervise daily project survey activities, ensuring accurate and timely survey support for feasibility study workstreams. The role is responsible for coordinating Survey Technicians, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring survey outputs are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with project requirements.
The role will work closely with geology, mining, engineering, mine planning, contractors, and project teams to ensure survey deliverables support the feasibility study schedule and decision-making requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
Establish and maintain survey control, field measurements and accurate spatial datasets to support feasibility study inputs.
Support drill-hole positioning, topographic surveys, pit and stockpile measurements, volume calculations and project reporting requirements.
Verify survey data accuracy through routine checks, quality control reviews and proper record management.
Provide clear survey outputs and updates to project stakeholders to support planning, engineering and study deliverables.
Provide survey support for the feasibility study, including pegging/staking exploration drill holes, capturing survey data and maintaining accurate field records.
Supervise Survey Technicians to ensure accurate, timely and fit-for-purpose survey services for the project team.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and Company Safety, Health and Environmental standards and procedures.
Perform QAQC checks on survey data, resolve discrepancies and ensure all survey information is complete, traceable, and fit for project use.
Maintain equipment inventory and ensure surveying equipment is kept in good working order.
Coordinate daily with survey personnel, project teams, and other departments to ensure survey priorities are understood and delivered.
Engage with geology, mine planning, engineering, and contractor teams to align survey activities with feasibility study priorities and deadlines.
Promote proactive safety leadership, effective communication and teamwork within the survey section.
Qualification Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mine Surveying, Geomatics or a related field.
Professional registration with a recognised surveying body will be advantageous.
Experience and Skills Requirements
A minimum of 3 years’ survey experience in the mining industry, preferably with exposure to project, expansion or feasibility study environments.
Previous supervisory or team coordination experience.
Proven ability to plan daily work, allocate tasks, coach team members and monitor safe field execution.
Experience using GPS equipment, 3D scanners, total stations, data recorders and relevant survey software such as Surpac, Deswik, AutoCAD, Trimble, Leica, Maptek or similar systems.
Valid Driver’s License.
Ability to manage field data, maintain accurate records and communicate survey outputs clearly to project stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; French or Swahili language capability will be advantageous.
Strong understanding of safe working practices in a mining environment.
