SUPERVISORY ATHLETIC TRAINER / NF4

The Director of Athletic Training serves as the supervisory athletic trainer for the installation Sports Medicine and Injury Prevention Program. The purpose of this position is to oversee a full range of athletic training services and implement standardized clinical methodologies associated with athletic training to improve the readiness, lethality, and resilience of the total force across all domains of fitness-physical, mental spiritual, and social. SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The incumbent oversees the execution of all aspects of the Sports Medicine and Injury Prevention Program portfolio including oversight of athletic training spaces and resources and is responsible for designing and implementing athletic training protocols and operating procedures related to athletic training services that align with policy. Coordinates athletic training efforts across the installation at various locations to include competitive events and unit physical training sessions at the performance center or in the field. Integrates expertise with Warrior Athlete Readiness and Resilience (WARR) team to provide holistic interventions designed to keep Marines training within their unit or the ability to return to training to achieve operational physical readiness. Participates in education activities by presenting appropriate classes, lectures, and hands-on demonstrations. Periodically evaluates and updates education materials for Marines and other authorized users. Establishes streamlined protocols such as movement assessments, individual program outcomes tracking, and makes recommendations to modify the programs. Provides input on exercise facility requirements, assists in the procurement of athletic training equipment, and makes recommendations for equipment replacement. The incumbent manages the daily operations of the athletic training and recovery rooms, maintaining accurate clinical records, ensuring compliance with OPNAV Instructions and Marine Corps policies, and overseeing the athletic training budget. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that the WARR Sports Medicine Program is in alignment with the OPNAV Instruction/ MCO 6400.2 regarding the certification process, and the development and sustainment of the Memorandum of Agreement between BUMED and Semper Fit, WARR. Supervises employee(s) including performing duties of assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel actions, completing performance reviews, timekeeping, training employees, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program, and prevention of sexual harassment. Must be alert to alcohol abuse and take appropriate action. Requires a valid driver's license. If located OCONUS, the incumbent must have a SOFA driver's license. Performs other duties as assigned
