Supervisory Financial Management Specialist
Summary
Supervises financial management for travel operations, audits accounts, and briefs senior managers on system performance and compliance issues.
This position is in the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Travel Management Division (TMD). TMD is responsible for travel and travel card (TC) activities which primarily focuses on financial management and accounting related functions. The Division oversees, monitors, and provides travel operation and technical assistance to travelers on official DOL business. Position is not in the Bargaining Unit Selectee will be expected to report to Washington, DC
Conduct analysis and briefs senior level agency managers on travel system performance, trends, and issues. Integrates financial management operations and policies with those of the e-Travel division. Serve as liaison to the General Services Administration (GSA) on the Department's e-travel system. Incumbent manages and directs internal audits for all accounts including audits and reviewing audit reports and audits conducted by the Office of the Inspection General (OIG). Ensure a timely response to travel audit inquiries and maintains any enhancements or required procedural changes based on the results of the reviews. Determine the need for and establishes priority for the development and/or enhancement of procedures and documentation based upon internal reviews and results of technical assistance to the agencies serviced by the Division and coordinates responses to results derived from findings from General Accountability Office audits, OIG audits and GSA reviews and the Department's Financial Statement Audits. Exercises supervisory authority for subordinate staff including but not limited to directly assigning and reviewing work; establishing positions; selecting candidates for employment and promotion; establishing performance standards and evaluating performance; recommending awards; resolving serious grievances and complaints; identifying training needs; and supporting Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) affirmative action plans and objectives.
