About the Position: The Supervisory Firefighter (Basic Life Support/Hazardous Materials Technician) directs day-to-day operations, planning and organizing firefighter operations to include technical and administrative supervision of the firefighter forces. This position is included under the provisions of Special Retirement Coverage (SRC) and may have both a maximum entry age and a mandatory retirement date. Direct the day-to-day operations of firefighting crews providing fire suppression, technical rescue, hazardous material and emergency medical response.
Control operations at the site of any hazardous material spill or incident involving hazardous material.
Run comprehensive fire prevention training, safety, and hazardous material handling programs by planning, implementing, reviewing, and evaluating activities.
Evaluate performance of subordinate personnel.
