Supervisory General Engineer

This position is located at a Research Station and serves as the Station Engineer, responsible for providing leadership to the Station's engineering program. Responsibilities include provision of engineering policy and direction across the Station, as well as development and coordination of a broad range of engineering and architectural activities. Provides program management, expert consultation and support to the Assistant Station Directors, Program Managers, Scientists, and Station Director on planning, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities.

Coordinates efforts across all programs and works with cooperating organizations including universities and Federal and State agencies.

Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and safe and efficient operation of all Station facilities.

Provides engineering expertise to keep Station activities abreast of current regulations and requirements in the operation of water, sewage, and solid waste systems.

Manages the budget for multiple work plans and projects.

Coordinates the planning, construction, and maintenance of transportation system needs, land line location services, and other common facility services requires on various experimental forests and other research areas.

Serve as a Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR), ensuring adherence to plans and specifications during project execution.

Performs supervisory duties at least 25% of the time.
