Supervisory Healthcare Engineer (Chief of Projects) Recruitment-Relocation Incentive
This position will oversee all of the constructions projects, contract Engineers, meet with VISN Leadership and Contracting to ensure all of the CAVHCS projects stay on track and keep moving forward. A Recruitment/Relocation Incentive may be considered for a highly qualified candidate.
This position will oversee all the constructions projects, contract Engineers, meet with VISN Leadership and Contracting to ensure all of CAVHCS projects stay on track and keep moving forward. This position is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, and management processes for the Engineering Service Projects Section that includes setting qualitative and quantitative standards. Provides professional and technical guidance and direction and review of assigned programs, including professional engineering work in several disciplines such as architecture, civil engineering, energy engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, environmental engineering, fire safety and safety engineering. Works closely with Healthcare Technology Management Service and the National Acquisition Center (NAC) in the coordination of complex equipment installations Works closely with peers in other service lines to meet their project needs as internal customers and the needs of external customers as well. Manages human resource functions such as hiring, performance, training and development. Provides technical advice on a wide range of engineering issues, including the Strategic Capital Investment Plan, Capital Asset Inventory, Capital Asset Resource Survey, Deferred Maintenance, and a myriad of engineering related topics. Serve as a mentor. Participates on station, VISN and national committees and work groups. Supports the Strategic Capital Investment Planning (SCIP) process. Participates in discussion of proposed capital projects for the station and makes preliminary designs of major alterations, improvements, and additions to implement the Medical Center programs. Responsible for providing professional engineering direction to ensure compliance with legislative and accrediting requirements at the Medical Center for all design and construction projects. Provides Engineering/Architectural and Construction Administration Oversite. Responsible for the implementation of the Medical Center's capital improvement program. Provides expert advice pertaining to the design and construction of facilities and structures in a large geographical region, and in a complex functional specialization. Coordinates and oversees scheduling and layout of operations, inspection and surveillance of materials, methods, and equipment used in construction and renovation managed by subordinate engineers and engineering technicians. Develops technical data regarding materials, sizes, dimensions, quantities, and costs to be incorporated in formal specifications. Conduct site visits. Develops competitive bidding cost estimates. Prepares correspondence, technical reports, estimates, fact sheets, status reports, and schedules as required to complete project assignments. Performs research, analysis and budgeting/financial management work and special projects. Exercises responsibility for budget formulation, presentation and execution. Interacts and negotiates regarding adjustments or reprogramming in support of project changes or requirements. Supervises and coordinates activities of subordinates. Approves leave.
