Supervisory IT Specialist (Area Manager)

The Area Manager provides leadership and resource management (finance, human, and acquisition), leading the development and implementation strategy required to manage multiple area-wide IT End User Operations.

Major Duties: Identifies and resolves root causes of problems that degrade delivery of essential Information Technology services. Directs, reviews and participates in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of automated information systems and technical architectures in compliance with VA directives. Oversees IT management concept development that impact all IT business processes, operations, and strategies. Provides direction, leadership and mentoring to develop and foster the leadership and management skills of subordinate staff. Plans schedules, and carries out major projects concerned with the analysis and evaluation of programs or organizational effectiveness. Mastery of the application of a wide-range of qualitative and quantitative analytical and evaluation methods to identify and advise on IT programs to improve processes or mission performance. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Tour of duty may be subject to change based on organizational needs. Travel Required: Up to 25% travel may be required, as needed, for this position. Compressed/Flexible: As determined by the Agency Policy Telework: Adhoc telework may be authorized at management discretion. Some work may require walking and standing in conjunction with travel and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site. Travel requirement is up to 20% of the time. Working Conditions: The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work environment involves every day risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. Employee may occasionally be exposed to uncomfortable conditions in such places as research and production facilities.
