The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position. Provides leadership, direction, and oversight for the implementation and operation of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) activities within assigned programs and functional areas. The incumbent executes established strategies, policies, and objectives to support ERM program goals, ensuring alignment with IRS and Treasury priorities. This includes overseeing the application of ERM frameworks and supporting initiatives that facilitate the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks through data analysis, environmental scanning, and evaluation of emerging issues and trends. Serves as a technical advisor to senior managers and program leadership on risk-related matters, including the interpretation and application of policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Represents the organization in internal meetings and working groups and collaborates with stakeholders across functions to promote consistency, transparency, and effective risk management practices. Manages program resources and prioritizes work within assigned areas to support ERM objectives and organizational priorities. Ensures the integration of ERM practices into day-to-day business operations and supports performance management activities, including the development and tracking of metrics and the assessment of program effectiveness. Applies knowledge of federal risk management frameworks, standards, and leading practices to support governance processes, strengthen risk management capabilities, and improve the quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of operations and services to taxpayers. Supports a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement through consistent application of ERM principles and practices. Provides technical oversight for the implementation and execution of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework in alignment with recognized standards (e.g., COSO ERM, ISO 31000) and organizational guidance.
