Supervisory Neighborhood Community Investment Specialist

This position is located in the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Assistant Secretary for Public and Indian Housing.

This position is located in the Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH), Office of Public Housing Investments (OPHI). PIH's mission is to provide low-income families affordable housing opportunities as they transition to self-sufficiency and homeownership. PIH oversees the administration of HUD's Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, Section 8 Rental Assistance, and Native American Programs through a staff of Headquarters and Field employees. The field structure for PIH consists of 29 Hub Offices and 16 Program Centers that provide oversight, direct monitoring, and coordination for approximately 4,200 public housing authorities. As a Supervisory Neighborhood Community Investment Specialist, you will: In this position the incumbent is a leader in solving some of the Nation's most complex and plaguing problems associated with public housing. The incumbent provides nationwide technical support to housing authorities as well as HUD field staff in the area of public housing investments, mixed finance, self-sufficiency, and the revitalization of distressed housing. Incumbent supervises and coordinates the work of assigned staff in collection, analysis and presentation of data and reports on the HOPE VI and public housing mixed finance programs and/or self-sufficiency. Participates in the design of data tracking and reporting mechanisms to identify nationwide trends, provide early alert to potential problems, and otherwise track the performance of the HOPE VI and self-sufficiency programs. Duties may include both a portfolio of projects, which the incumbent is expected to handle independently and a variety of projects which the incumbent works with one or more members of the OPHI staff and other Departmental staff; developing policies and procedures related to innovative performance of public housing development, using HOPE VI, Development and Capital Programs; facilitating non-traditional public/private partnerships to address the needs of PHAs, their residents and other community members; developing rules, Notices of Funding.
