Supervisory Operations Support Specialist

As a Supervisory Operations Support Specialist, you will oversee Operations Support Specialists who provide technical assistance to district and field managers and staff on a wide variety of administrative functions in support of the USCIS mission.

Organizational Location: This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, within District 13 and are assigned based on the need of the agency.

Provides supervisory, technical, and administrative direction to a team of Operations Support Specialists that are responsible for providing a variety of management services, advice, and guidance essential to the direction and operations of USCIS.

Anticipates problems that evolve from the complex and dynamic nature of organizations served, and provides solutions that accommodate needs without compromising guiding management principles, effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity.

Evaluates and monitors communication and information sharing processes, recommends appropriate changes to policy, and assists in the coordination of liaison activities related to administrative functions within the District.

Provides advice and guidance directly to district leadership, operational managers, and incumbents on complex and difficult issues. Recommends innovative methods and strategies to resolve issues.

Carries out EEO policies and program activities, employee discipline, resolves complaints and grievances not requiring referral to a higher authority and makes recommendations for solution of those referred to the next higher organizational level.

Residency Requirement: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or Military employee serving overseas. Supervisory/Managerial Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a twelve-month probationary period upon appointment to this position. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position.
