Supervisory Physician (Family Practice)

This position is located at the Gallup Indian Medical Center, Gallup Service Unit (GSU), in the Diabetes Program. The primary purpose of the position is to provide Supervisory Physician (Family Practice) services as Chief of the Diabetes Program, directing comprehensive preventive and treatment care for patients with diabetes or at risk for diabetes, and supervising all Diabetes Program staff. Provides comprehensive diabetes clinical care by examining, diagnosing, treating, and managing patients; ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests; and coordinating ongoing patient care. Plans, directs, and evaluates Diabetes Program operations to ensure safe, effective, and efficient diabetes prevention and treatment services while leading quality improvement and accreditation activities. Manages program resources and administration by directing the program budget, developing and revising policies and procedures, preparing required reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Serves as the Diabetes Program advisor to executive leadership by providing expertise on diabetes care, representing the program on interdisciplinary committees, and leading grant management and strategic program initiatives.

Background Investigation Requirement: This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment. A background investigation is a standard process used by the Federal Government to verify an individual's identity, employment history, education, and other relevant information to determine suitability for Federal service. Upon receipt of instructions, applicants must complete all required background investigation forms within five (5) calendar days of issuance. Timely completion is critical to avoid delays in processing or a determination of unsuitability.
