SUPERVISORY PHYSICIAN (PATHOLOGY)

About the Position: This position is located in in Dover, Delaware. Management would prefer completion of a Forensic Pathology Fellowship and Board Certification in Pathology. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Supervises and leads a team of medical and technical staff by managing daily operations, evaluating performance, resolving conflicts, and overseeing hiring and training.

Directs the mission of the Forensic Pathology division by establishing priorities, providing technical guidance, and ensuring the quality and timeliness of all casework.

Performs and leads complex forensic autopsies and death investigations to determine the cause and manner of death, particularly in highly sensitive or difficult cases.

Provides authoritative expert consultation to military commanders, legal counsel, and criminal investigators on forensic pathology matters and investigation outcomes.

Delivers expert medical testimony in legal proceedings, defending and explaining complex autopsy findings to courts and legal authorities.

Ensures the division's compliance with professional accreditation standards by managing quality assurance programs and conducting rigorous peer reviews of casualty and autopsy reports.

This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
