Supervisory Production Operations Specialist

Supervise daily operations of a print production plant, including production printing, wide-format printing, bindery and finishing, mounting and laminating, and document scanning and conversion.

Operates in a data driven environment utilizing commercial and equipment/process specific software.

Supervising production personnel by adjusting work schedules, assigning and reviewing work, evaluating performance, resolving complaints, and providing technical guidance and training to lower-graded staff.

Plan and schedule plant workload against customer due dates. Balance press, wide-format, bindery, finishing, and mounting capacity, and adjust priorities to meet mission-critical and expedited requirements.

Determine production methods and materials per job, including paper stocks, wide-format substrates like vinyl and rigid board, and the appropriate mounting, laminating, and encapsulating methods for the finished product.

Directing mounting and finishing operations, including various mounting methods to foam and gator board; laminating and encapsulation; and finishing services like trimming, cutting, binding, and packaging.

Perform and enforce quality control across the plant, including proofing and color management, registration and image quality, trim and finish tolerances, and final inspection before release to the customer.

Maintaining plant equipment readiness by monitoring production gear, scheduling preventive maintenance, managing consumables and materials, and processing equipment turn-in through DLA Disposition Services.

Monitor financial performance of assigned production work. Track revenue and cost against plan, review job costing against production standards, and resolve order-level billing and funding discrepancies with customers and supporting offices.

Administering facility, safety, environmental, and security requirements with the host installation, covering material handling, storage, chemical and waste handling, equipment safety, and physical security.

Serving as the technical point of contact for customer print and finishing needs, consulting on materials, preparing estimates, tracking jobs through the order system, and resolving complaints and quality disputes.

Support development of requirements documents for contracted production support, and coordinate work sent to other plants or to commercial sources when in-house capacity or capability will not meet the requirement.
