This position is located with the Office of the Secretary of Interior, Deputy Assistant Secretary-Management in Washington, District of Columbia. The incumbent will utilize innovative approaches to provide assistance to tribes for capital investment, economic development, economic policy development, workforce development, and will integrate that effort with the overall economic development program under the purview of the Assistant Secretary.

As Supervisory Program Manager, GS-0340, your typical work assignments may include, but not limited to: Identifies and carries out major program directives, inter-agency coordination, intra agency coordination, management and administrative functions related to the promotion of economic development for Tribes and Tribal communities. Provides division direction for economic development programmatic initiatives, policies, practices, and operational guidance. Provides programmatic leadership, direction, and supervision to all Office of Indian Economic Development staff with regard to economic development in Indian Country. Reviews current and proposed legislation for impact on economic development activities. Proposes and champions necessary activities to ensure fullest participation throughout Indian Country. Identifies the need for new or revised/improved activities, policies, and systems related to economic development. Ensures proactive coordination/communication on emerging issues. Keeps Indian Affairs senior management closely informed of matters of concern such as Congressional inquiries, developments related to other Federal components, state concerns, industry requirements, and tribal issues. Maximizes utilization of human resources and ensures training and development of employees.
