Supervisory Recreation Fee Specialist

You will serve as a Supervisory Recreation Fee Specialist at Joshua Tree National Park. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of administrative duties that are associated with the management of fee revenue and/or donations collected from the public under the authority of Federal laws and regulations such as the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA).

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: - Manage all aspects of a park-wide recreation fee program and their effect on overall program objectives, priorities, and milestones across multiple distinct fee operations. - Coordinate with the business community to ensure their involvement, cooperation, and develop recommendations to improve the fee and revenue process. - Key member of the national cadre of recreation fee program experts that regularly serve on Service wide task forces to develop program guidelines and make recommendations in changes in laws and regulations relating to rate establishment, etc. - Direct audit program of fee collection, FFS entries, project expenditures, and cost of collection expenditures, deposits, and accountable stock. - Manage a large staff on a park-wide basis involved in revenue and fee operations and associated activities. Directly supervises one GS-07/09/11 Recreation Fee Specialist, 2 GS-08 Supervisory Recreation Fee Technicians, and a GS-05/07 Administrative Assistant.

As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 1-year probationary period to evaluate your fitness and whether your continuation of employment advances the public interest. This probationary period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service. In determining if your employment advances the public interest, the agency will consider: your performance and conduct; the needs and interests of the agency; whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government; and whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service. Under applicable law, the employment of an individual serving a probationary or trial period automatically terminates when that period ends unless the agency affirmatively certifies, in writing, that the individual's employment should continue and that their appointment should be finalized. In the absence of agency action to affirmatively certify continued employment beyond the probationary or trial period, such appointments are terminated. Upon completion of your probationary period your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest. This is a supervisory position that may require completion of a supervisory probationary period.
