Supervisory Senior Construction Engineer

The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the Office of Planning, Design and Construction (OPDC). OPDC is responsible for the Smithsonian's physical infrastructure, which comprises over 700 buildings, other structures and leased spaces many which are designated as historic.

The Supervisory Senior Construction Engineer acts as the Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) providing technical and managerial facilities support for contractor, associate directors and directors. In this position, you will: Act as a senior construction representative with a broad base of technical expertise in construction, architectural, and engineering disciples. Provide oversight for complex, high profile projects and technical advice/assistance relative to the construction efforts of the branch and Smithsonian Facilities. Develops and implement computer applications for the project administration. Manage a field staff of two to eight on site professionals and technicians comprised of engineers, architects and computer and contract technicians. Develop policies, procedures, guidelines, contract specifications and changes, and technical reports.
