Supervisory Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist

This position is to provide services for the clinical programming and daily operations of the program. This position is based in the Birmingham VA Medical Center and/or other facility in order to support real time, in person, response to referrals. In addition, the incumbent must be a skilled communicator capable of developing effective partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies as well as nongovernmental organizations.

Duties for this position may include, but are not limited to: Manages the administrative and clinical aspect of the Compensated Work Therapy Program, and the Transitional Residence Program. Responsible for the supervision of CWT staff, developing performance plans for subordinates, reviewing their work, and evaluating their performance in relation to the plan. Responsible for managing budgets and fund control points associated with program operations that includes budget analysis and projection of funding needs. Completes quarterly budget reports and daily monitoring of the CWT fiscal budget and the completion of Bi-weekly CWT payrolls. Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary. Responsible for screening, setting up medical clearances, answering consults, admissions to the CWT/TR House Program, treatment planning, monitoring, conducting individual and group therapy, and discharges. Works closely with community agencies and companies to secure employment contracts for CWT that offer potential employment to Veterans. Provides vocational and readjustment counseling to Veterans.
