Position Overview
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for driving quality standards, technical compliance, and continuous improvement across our global supply chain. This role serves as the primary technical bridge between internal engineering teams and external manufacturing partners.
The ideal candidate will manage vendor qualification, perform comprehensive quality audits, champion root-cause problem solving (8D/CAPA), and implement APQP/PPAP frameworks to ensure incoming components meet strict quality and reliability standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Management & Onboarding
Conduct technical assessments and quality system audits (ISO 9001 / IATF 16949) to evaluate supplier capabilities and risk profiles.
Oversee the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) for new supplier parts and design revisions.
Maintain the Approved Vendor List (AVL) and collaborate with Procurement on strategic vendor selection.
Quality Control & Issue Resolution
Issue and track Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs), ensuring thorough root-cause analysis (5-Why, Fishbone) and sustainable corrective actions.
Lead non-conformance management processes (MRB/RTV) to minimize production line downtime and yield losses.
Establish incoming inspection plans, critical-to-quality (CTQ) specifications, and sampling strategies for key components.
Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
Define, track, and report supplier performance metrics, including PPM (Parts Per Million) defect rates and SCAR closure timeliness.
Lead periodic Supplier Quality Reviews and partner with strategic vendors to implement Lean and Six Sigma continuous improvement projects.
Perform regular on-site process audits at supplier manufacturing facilities.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
Required Education & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Quality Engineering (or related STEM field).

Travel: Ability to travel up to 25–35% (domestic and international) to vendor facilities.
Technical & Professional Competencies
Deep understanding of quality control frameworks, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and engineering drawing interpretation.
Hands-on proficiency with PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC (Statistical Process Control), and MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis).
Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification preferred.
Proven track record in supplier auditing, corrective action management, and technical negotiation.
