Responsible for the planning, implementation and directing BHS system core supply chain duties and functions as assigned. Core duties will include a regional category management and site level leadership responsibility. Within this leadership role the expectation of financial, logistical and procurement expertise is a standard operating procedure. Conveys a seamless team oriented environment in providing services to the BHS system along with oversight of a product line. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL / PRIMARY DUTIES

General Management:
 Establishes goals and objectives that support overall strategic plans of the facility/Baptist Health System
 Develops and manages the annual department operating and capital budgets
 Directs daily operations of assigned department/s
 Directs performance of staff
 Maintains objectivity in decision making, utilizing facts to support decisions
 Supports the mission statement, policies and procedures of the Baptist Health System
 Manages to eliminate boundaries to achieve integrated, efficient and quality service
 Achieves ongoing compliance with all regulatory agencies
 Serves as a resource to employees and customers as demonstrated by visibility and knowledge of
 Demonstrates flexibility in response to change
 Anticipates and responds to problems and risks
 Communicates effectively with all levels in the organization and with inter/external customers

People Management:
 Selects personnel for hire and promotion; takes appropriate actions regarding counseling, disciplinary actions, demotion and termination
 Directs, supports and coaches direct reports
 Responds proactively to employee needs and concerns
 Develops “experts” and “expertise” throughout the department and seeks employee input
 Facilitates consensus among divergent groups
 Minimizes staff turnover
 Acknowledges and rewards employees’ strengths and accomplishments
 Evaluates assigned staff performance and competency, providing direct feedback
 Assesses learning needs, develops competency plans and provides opportunities for learning

Department/Business Unit Management:
 Directs all areas of Material Management
 Determines best sources from which to purchase by considering: price, services provided, delivery time, payment terms, warranty available, training and/or education programs available, etc.
 Determines best methods of distribution of supplies to all locations in the BHS system.
 Conducts all negotiations for supplies, equipment and services
 Understands all Materials Management IS systems and provides strategic direction for improvement.
 Demonstrates knowledge of trends and methods involved in negotiating contracts, pricing, and product availability.
 Provides direction for return of unused items
 Assures all items to be purchased have approved.
 Directs and participates in the development/revision of processes and policies based on established standards and state and federal regulations as they relate to purchasing and distribution
 Demonstrates “support role” to the system and “can do” attitude.
 Investigates below standards performance with facilities and locations to determine improvements
 Ensures up to date/organized records are kept regarding contracts, product information, pricing, receiving and vendors.
 Produces accurate materials management reports.
 Provides knowledge and support to the BHS product standardization
 Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
 Maintains safe environment
 Participates in Performance Improvement activities

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Healthcare Management, Finance, Business, Supply Chain Management, Accounting or Engineering.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: MBA/ MHA from an accredited college or university highly recommended
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 5 years applicable work experience or hospital post graduate administrative residency experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 10 years Supply Chain experience. 5 years as a director.
