SUPPLY TECHNICIAN
This vacancy is for a GS-2005-7, SUPPLY TECHNICIAN located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SFLC LOGISTICS SUPPLY SUPPORT CUSTOMER SERVICE SECTION in BALTIMORE, Maryland.
You will serve as a/an SUPPLY TECHNICIAN and be responsible for performing all tasks to support the operation of a large, multifaceted, supply and distribution facility.. Typical work assignments include: For ALD Using computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work. Anticipating and meets the needs of both internal and external customers. Delivers high-quality products and services; is committed to continuous improvement. Processing documentation for receipts, issues, storage and distribution of material at the SFLC's Inventory Control Point (ICP). Processing supply transactions for urgent, critical shortage items, or special handling items when established procedures are not always applicable. Coordinating administrative activity for various warehousing actions such as receipt, issue, physical inventory, warehouse location updates and shipment information. Working with Inventory Managers and Supply System Analysts to review/resolve routine and complex supply transactions discrepancies. Maintaining documentation for material sent to Disposition Services and validates receipt by Disposition Services of high dollar and/or sensitive items. For LREPL Performing routine aspects of supply specialist work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to a limited segment in one of the major areas of supply management (e.g. cataloging, inventory management, Mandatory Turn In (MTI), etc) Assisting other team members with processing supply transactions for urgent, critical shortage items, or special handling items when established procedures are not always applicable. Conducting extensive and exhaustive searches for required information, reconstructing records for complex supply transactions, and/or providing supply support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts. Maintaining records for tracking Mandatory Turn In items and corresponding with the fleet to facilitate the return of expended repairable material. Providing wholesale supply support by assisting team members in maintaining inventory for items that require frequent intervention due to controls not computerized or variables with other supply procedures. Managing requisition exceptions by evaluating management codes, control systems, availability of parts for existing orders that can be expedited. For IBCT Conducting the full range of provisions and pre procurement screening for preparing new item entries for stock number assignments. Screening incoming high priority requisitions to ensure transactions are free of errors. Determining availability of materials for issuing and inputting appropriate supply transactions to process requisitions. Tracking manually high priority items in a timely manner and provide appropriate supply/shipment status. Provide administrative support and assistance to higher level supply technicians and technical specialist.
