Support Engineer (software)
We are looking for a hands-on support Engineer to maintain, test, integrate and improve
Windows-based machine software. The role involves supporting existing deployed systems,
implementing customer-driven enhancements, integrating machine hardware, and working on
new features for industrial automation applications.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working across software, motion control, industrial
communication, and machine integration.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development & Maintenance
● Maintain and improve existing Windows-based machine software.
● Improve or Develop new features and machine functions according to customer
requirements.
● Troubleshoot and resolve software issues.
● Support software setup, configuration, commissioning, and system validation.
Motion Control & Machine Integration
● Develop and integrate motion control functions for 3–5 axis cartesian systems
● Implement coordinated motion sequences and process control logic.
● Interface with:
○ Servo/Stepper motors
○ Motion controllers
○ Sensors and I/O devices
● Optimize machine performance, reliability, and cycle time.
● Knowledge in machine vision applications for alignment, inspection, and process control
● Support debugging and optimization of image acquisition and processing.
Communication & Industrial Protocol Integration
● Integrate machine communication and external devices through:
○ RS232 / RS485
○ TCP/IP
○ Modbus (RTU/TCP)
○ Fieldbus communication (EtherCAT, CAN, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, etc. where
applicable)
● Interface with vision systems, dispensing systems, curing systems, PLCs, and external
equipment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
● Work closely with Electrical, Mechanical, and Software teams
● Support machine bring-up, debugging, and factory/customer acceptance activities.
● Participate in system architecture and technical discussions.
Requirements
● Strong C# and .NET programming skills
● Experience with:
○ Multi-threading
○ Event-driven architecture
○ OOP design principles
○ Debugging and troubleshooting
● Industrial communication:
○ RS232 / Serial communication
○ TCP/IP
○ Modbus
○ Hardware interface integration
● Motion control understanding:
○ Servo systems
○ Stepper control
○ Positioning and motion sequencing
○ Homing, limits, interlocks
● Understanding of:
○ Machine safety logic
○ Process control concepts
○ State machine / sequence control
Additional knowledge of the following will be an advantage:
● Motion controller SDK integration.
● Vision system integration.
● PLC communication.
● Knowledge of dispensing, UV curing, or semiconductor automation.
● SQL / data logging experience.
● Git / version control.
● Industrial UI/HMI development.
Basic Electrical & Electronics Knowledge
● Read electrical schematics
● Understand sensors, relays, I/O wiring.
● Basic troubleshooting of electrical and electronic systems.
● Ability to bridge hardware and software integration efficiently.
