Organizational Overview
Focused Community Strategies (FCS), a non-profit, place-based community development organization, works in South Atlanta and Thomasville Heights to promote conditions necessary for its neighbors to flourish.
Position Overview
Crew Members are essential to the daily operations of Community Grounds and Carver Market, helping create a welcoming customer experience while supporting efficient store, café, and kitchen operations. Team members are cross-trained across multiple functions and may be scheduled to support different responsibilities based on business needs, training, and shift assignments.
Primary Responsibilities
Café Cashiering – Accurately process customer transactions, provide friendly and efficient service, and maintain an organized front-of-house café checkout area.
Barista Duties – Prepare coffee, espresso, and other café beverages according to established standards while maintaining speed, quality, and cleanliness in the beverage station.
Food Preparation – Support food preparation activities, including ingredient prep, basic cooking tasks, and adherence to food safety and quality standards.
Kitchen Support – Assist with kitchen cleanliness, dishwashing, stocking, and operational tasks that support efficient back-of-house workflow.
Market Cashiering – Provide accurate checkout support for grocery and retail customers while delivering a welcoming and helpful customer experience.
Market Stocking & Floor Support – Restock merchandise, monitor product presentation, assist with inventory upkeep, and help maintain a clean, organized, and customer-ready retail environment.
General Team Support – Adapt to changing operational needs by supporting multiple areas of the business as assigned and collaborating effectively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
Equipment & Facilities Upkeep – Ensure proper cleaning, light maintenance, and overall functionality of store equipment.
Store Appearance & Standards – Maintain high standards for store cleanliness, presentation, and overall customer experience.
Pricing & Accuracy Controls – Ensure accurate pricing of inventory and menu items across all departments.
Quality & Inventory Control – Ensure consistent, reliable, and quality inventory by supporting with inventory management processes

Key Qualifications & Experience
Retail experience preferred but not required

Food Service & Retail Exposure – Prior experience in food service or retail is preferred but not required.

Compensation: Starting rate of $16/hour
PTO & Benefits offered to “Crew 2” members with a tenure of 5+ years
