Summary: The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Affirmative Employment Section of the Civilian Personnel Branch. The Civilian Personnel Management Branch is responsible for the servicing of appropriated Air Force (AF) activities and civilian employees at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson which includes the 673 ABW, 11 AF and 611 organizations, 3 Wing, and numerous tenant organizations. Duties: Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Affirmative Employment section of the Civilian Personnel Branch, ensuring that recruitment and placement, employee development and equal employment/affirmative employment, and position control management complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through teams made up of specialists and assistants in grades varying from GS-12 through GS-07. Represents the JBER Civilian Personnel Branch with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Participates in special projects and initiatives, performs special assignments and functions as an active member of the CPS team.
